On Saturday, July 13, 2013 many Trayvon Martin supporters were in outrage when six female jurors found killer George Zimmerman not guilty for the 17-year-old's murder. Trayvon Martin was killed by Zimmerman on February 26, 2012. Zimmerman who refused to testify due to possible incrimination claim the shooting occurred in self-defense.
Zimmerman must have been watching the movie "Set It Off" before his encounter with Trayvon. He wanted to create the scene where Stoney's brother was gunned down after police mistook a champagne bottle for a weapon. Zimmerman must have thought Martin's Arizona tea can and Skittles was a weapon and he had no choice but to act in self-defense.
It is obvious that Trayvon was a victim of racial profiling. Him getting shot had nothing to do with him wearing a hoodie. Zimmerman had to have been targeting him before he shot him.
Let's not forget that Zimmerman was told to leave Martin alone. The man still insisted on disobeying orders and deliberately shot the teenager. In my opinion it was premeditated. the jury selection consisted of six women, five of them were Caucasian and one was latina. Zimmerman's not guilty verdict sparked immediate controversy. Many couldn't believe the jury found him not guilty even though they had valid evidence. Zimmerman admitted to shooting Martin and he still escaped consequences for murder by legal default.
What happened to Trayvon Martin is more than a tragedy, it's a warning. It's a message telling us to wake up. Rather we want to accept it or not Martin's murder is just the added on addition to the repeating of history in this generation.
Unfortunately, George Zimmerman isn't the first to get off for murdering an innocent African American child and he won't be the last. However, justice can only get served properly when it's purpose is to protect all humans of all races.
In 1955 Emmett Till was brutally beaten and murdered in Mississippi by two white males for whistling at a white girl. Till who was born in Chicago was severely beaten to a pulp, kidnapped and shot. He was age 14 at his time of death. The two males on trial for Till's murder were acquitted of the charges.
In 1957 Charles Williams Jr. committed suicide after he was sentenced to death for murdering a white boy in self-defense. However, it was a secret within the police department that revealed the murder of Williams' boyfriend prior to Williams killing the white boy. Williams' boyfriend murder case wasn't even acknowledged.
In 1970 veteran Henry Marrow Jr. aka Dickie was murdered for allegedly speaking rudely to a white girl. A property owner and his two sons beat Marrow with a bat and then shot him to death. During the trial the offenders were found not guilty by an all white jury.
Based on all four murder cases they share a few similarities. They were all African American male, They were victims of racial profiling and justice was unserved. The problem is had those four victims had of been white male they would have been sentenced to life or death in prison!
